For me Uri is not that exciting .... no sense of humor.... no inner child ....no fantasy.... I like Elvis not the Beatles. Different strokes for different folks ..His ethics are very different than mine.....

What are your opinions on younger magicians? After all, they are the next generation of magic, and many of them don't seem to look at magic as the art form that it is. Do you feel the younger magicians (if worthy of being deemed the title) is killing the art?

No I don't thing they are killing the art ..... They will water it down ...others with take the old stuff and make it new ....When people see a magician who has depth and colorful complexities that are genuine to the performer... they know....If people are used to seeing tricks ...when they see an act ...they know ....

Also ... it depends if the younger guys want to make a living doing it ... this will shape their tastes in material ....A lot of the youtube stuff I have seen would not fly at a real gig unless the whole act was polished and entertaining. Being young is good because alot of the old stuff will seem new but the young guys must never forget the magicians of the past and how it got to where it is today. Most people never read magic history books.
Most magicians have never read anything by Robert-Houdin. If you read his works you will see what he was saying is very meaningful today.

Think you could make a quick list of some books you'd reccommend for a magician serious in going in to magic as a profession? Possibly books discussing psychology, magic theory, magic history, or just some older books that are being overlooked that contain great material.

Hey, keep us updated on that Show in Brooklyn. I would love to take my girl.

Thanks,

In short, the con artist of the streets is a performer, an actor and an entertainer who hides the sword of his purpose behind a cape of geniality, humor, and character. The magician can learn a lot from the grifter’s technique and even more importantly, from his focus.

My favorite books ...
Most are about stage magic ...which is a rare thing these days .....
For me all magic is stage magic....close up, parlour, all stage magic ...

The stage might be a different size but in all cases we have an actor and an audience....The principles taught and shared in these books will apply to all types of conjuring .....

Who are some performers that you've drawn inspiration from? Both magic and non, mentors and people you've never met. Who are some great performers you've always looked up to (ie Kreskin maybe?)

Also, would you mind telling us a bit about how your relationship with Jeff Sheridan?

I have many influences ...a lot of non magicians .....

King Diamond,Elvis,Liberace,Eric Adams,Bruce Dickinson,Brian Johnson,Angus Young,Henry Mancini,Steve Harris, Fred Rogers,Glen Danzig,Vincent Price,Superman,Batman,David Copperfield,Joey Ramone,Oderus Urungus,Mr. Electric,Jeff Sheridan,Senior Wences,Jimmy Nelson,Cardini,Robert-Houdin,Doyle,Godzilla,Sherlock Holmes,Tommy Wonder ,Forest Ackerman.

I met Jeff Sheridan about 7 years ago in a magic shop ....about 4 years ago I saw him again and at the time we were living in the same neighborhood-For the past few years we would occasionally hang out and talk about magic ,art,theatre,politics...you name it ...One day he came over to my place and we had a magic session on the old Abbott's trick "Blue Phantom" .You should have seen the stuff that came out of that day ...we spent 2 hours on this golden oldie.... Imagine taking out any old silly magic prop and opening your eyes and thinking out of the box for a few hours on what makes the trick work what principles are involved and where these principles can take you.....
This is what it is like hanging out with Jeff so many ideas that its intoxicating.
I have learned more about magic and art from Jeff than any other magician I have ever met in my life. He is an artist in the highest form . His concepts are a mile deep and his performance is pure.
The videos of him do not do this man justice... His art is live and must be seen live to understand why he is a magician and not a guy who does tricks.
His live energy is electric and his chops are the highest example of perfection.
Right now he is performing at the "Tigre Palast" in Germany .
